Canine seminar days at Minitube USA
Minitube USA recently hosted two canine seminars: One on semen preservation, breeding management and AI as well as one on TCI, the art of transcervical insemination.
Both were led by John Lichty from Minitube USA and practical veterinary Dr Bruce Christensen Kokopelli as experienced instructors and were the first class offered since the pandemic.
The general AI seminar with key factors for a successful reproduction program was attended by 10 veterinarians and vet techs and gave insights into the topics by lectures on the first day and practical lessons on the second. The participants were guided through the entire process from semen collection, its analysis, staining, filling, and freezing, up to vaginoscopy and insemination. For the latter, our canine AI model Bertha came into play as training aid before attendees practiced on live animals.
One day later, the seminar continued with the topic of TCI, which was opened for veterinarians only. Since inception in 2006, this theoretical and practical seminar has been the benchmark for veterinarians to learn and refine the art of transcervical insemination (TCI). A personal teaching environment coupled with the latest endoscopic equipment made it again an essential course for the development of the skills necessary to perform TCI in the veterinary practice.
Minitube USA is looking at hosting the TCI seminar again this fall and both again in the spring of 2014.
