May we present: Janine Wernli, Minitub Iberica

With Janine Wernli we welcomed a new colleague and horse reproduction expert to the Minitube team last October. Janine has Colombian and Swiss roots and is a specialist in assisted reproductive techniques and ultrasound, mare infertility treatment and neonatology. Time to get to know Janine a little better.

Janine, you have been working as a veterinarian specializing in equine insemination and embryo transfer for over 10 years. Can you tell us a little more about your professional background?
My Veterinary Thesis Degree already focused on equine reproduction related with semen extender components. Then getting in contact with very important Colombian colleagues in Germany, doors opened for me in Europe and since then I have not stopped working almost exclusively on equine reproduction. Mainly I was active in Germany, with relevant show jumpers and dressage sport horses, but also in Colombia and other European countries, where I gained experience and fortunately successful results over the years.

What made you decide to join Minitube last year? Can you describe your tasks and areas of responsibility at Minitube?
After working intensively in equine reproduction for all these years and gaining positive experience in the use of Minitube products, I thought it was possible to change my working style and work all year round, but at the same time stay connected to the reproductive field. Actually, I was planning to apply for a job at Minitüb Germany at the end of the summer, but I decided to wait after my vacation in Spain, and then, fortunately, the opportunity arose to join the Minitub Iberica team. My tasks are focused on the commercial and technical area, mainly consulting, sales and support of customers from the equine and bovine sector, also in the field of ultrasound diagnostics.

Your interest and passion for horses also shows in your personal life. What are your characteristics, hobbies, and preferences?
Since childhood, I have always been involved with horses. Over the years I have alternated riding as an amateur show jumper, dressage rider and endurance rider with veterinary practice. To discover the marine world, I dive from time to time. But the central focus of my life is the deep connection with people, therapeutic help with horses and constant social volunteering.

What do you think are the topics that will be most relevant in equine breeding over the next 2 to 3 years? How can Minitube support breeders and veterinarians in the future challenges?
All indications are that the equine industry will largely focus on new biotechnological research, on ever faster and more effective techniques that allow animals to reproduce in a shorter time and obtain valuable results. These new techniques will make it possible to provide year-round reproductive services for horses. The ability to perform these procedures outside the breeding season has major economic implications for breeders, veterinarians, and professionals in the sector. Minitube's experts work closely with research institutions and practitioners to develop new techniques and products that advance horse breeding. Throughout the year, we are available to our customers, offering advice and training, as well as high quality products at competitive prices.
