Christa Simmet appointed to the Senate of Economy Germany
From the top of corporate leadership to one of the country’s leading economic think tanks: After decades of successful market development at Minitube, Christa Simmet (CCO) is taking on a new role of significant social relevance. She has been appointed to the Senate of Economy Germany. With her withdrawal from the company’s executive management at the end of the year, she will devote her full energy to this honorary position. The official appointment took place on December 6 during the annual convention in Munich.
The Senate of Economy Germany unites prominent figures from business, science, culture, and society who are aware of their responsibility to the state and the public. Its mission is to develop solutions for the common good in the realms of business, politics, and society. It explicitly does not pursue the individual interests of specific companies or industries; rather, it focuses on broader societal benefits.
Members of the Senate are appointed. As ambassadors, they contribute through their personal membership to implementing the Senate’s goals in dialogue with key decision-makers.
The Senate’s mission is to promote an ecological and social market economy. It focuses on entrepreneurial responsibility, value-based corporate leadership, and supporting policies that serve the common good. This mission is reflected in its guiding principle: “Economy for the people.”
“As a representative of Minitube, I am particularly interested in contributing to the Commission for ‘Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems,’” says Christa Simmet. “Agriculture plays a vital role both in Germany and internationally. It helps meet the nutritional needs of a growing global population, addresses the challenges of climate change, and bears significant responsibility within the marketplace. Unlike traditional interest groups, the Senate, driven by the common good, provides a platform that brings all stakeholders together to discuss sometimes controversial topics in a neutral, non-ideological setting.”
As a member of the Senate, Christa Simmet will actively contribute to promoting innovative, value-driven approaches for business and society, strengthening the foundation for a sustainable and future-oriented market economy. This commitment reflects Minitube’s core values: taking responsibility for people, the environment, and the economy.
The Senate of Economy does not pursue particular interests. Rather, it is explicitly committed to the common good. Seeing itself as a “think tank for the future,” the Senate brings together visionaries, advocates, and guardians, and draws on the extraordinary wealth of knowledge, experience, and insight of its members. The Senate channels this expertise into specialized commissions, where solutions oriented towards the common good are developed and introduced into political dialogue. Each commission is coordinated by a chairperson. The goal is not to reach a consensus, but rather to identify diverse, viable solutions.
Additionally, the senators actively participate in various programs, including the Women in Leadership mentoring initiative. The Senate has also developed a comprehensive sustainability guide for businesses. Every year, the Senate presents the SDG Innovation Awards to businesses and NGOs that demonstrate exceptional dedication to promoting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals
