Awarded most family-friendly

Minitüb GmbH is the most family-friendly company in Lower Bavaria. On May 14, 2018, Bavaria's Minister of Labour and Family affairs, Kerstin Schreyer, and the Minister of Economic Affairs, Franz Josef Pschierer presented awards to the 20 most family-friendly companies in Bavaria as part of the "Successful. Family-Friendly" competition.

A jury, consisting of representatives from government ministries, academia, foundations and Bavarian industry, has selected the final 20 winners, among them, as the only Lower Bavarian company, Minitüb GmbH.

In 1970, Ludwig and Irmingard Simmet founded Minitüb, a systems supplier for assisted reproduction in animals, as a couple with four children. The compatibility of family and work has always been an integral part of the corporate culture. Currently, 28 different working time models are offered and practiced. With this system, all requests from the 141 employees for part-time and flexible working hours can be realized. In emergency situations, e.g. those requiring care of children or relatives, disburdening of the employee is a matter of course - either by expending accumulated overtime hours or reducing normal working hours. Individual requests are always taken into consideration. If children for some reason need to be brought to work, colleagues help out with the care. Open communication prevails among all employees and their work-life balance is a priority that is respected by managers and employees. Thanks to the practiced reconciliation of family and work, the fluctuation in the company is low. Employees are happy and remain with the company for a long time.

The Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer stated during the award ceremony at Nymphenburg Palace: "The compatibility of career and family life is a high priority in Bavarian business in general and at Minitüb GmbH in particular. The entrepreneurial commitment here is at a high level! Greater employee satisfaction and motivation lead to stronger employee loyalty. Especially in times of a shortage of skilled workers, this can become a real success factor for our Bavarian companies, as our example of Minitüb GmbH shows."

Labour and Family Minister Kerstin Schreyer also emphasized: "In order to combine work and family well, reliable childcare is essential. We have massively expanded this service in Bavaria in recent years. But that alone is not enough. Companies also have a duty to establish a family-friendly working environment. The winners of our award “Successful.Family-Friendly “, like Minitüb GmbH, show how this can be done successfully. They are role models who will hopefully find many imitators."

The "Successful.Family-Friendly" company competition was first held in 2016 by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Family and Integration. It is an initiative within the framework of the Bavarian Family Pact and will take place every two years in future.
