Call for Nominations: Simmet Prize for Assisted Reproduction

The prestigious Simmet Prize for Assisted Reproduction is now open for nominations. Sponsored by Minitube International and administered by the International Congress on Animal Reproduction (ICAR), the prize honors groundbreaking research in assisted animal reproduction.
 
About the Simmet Prize
Established in memory of Dr. Ludwig Simmet, a pioneer in artificial insemination and founder of Minitube, the Simmet Prize recognizes active scientists for outstanding contributions in both basic and applied research. The largest award in animal reproduction is presented every four years at the ICAR meeting and includes a prize of €50,000.
 
Next award presentation
The 5th Simmet Prize will be awarded at the 20th ICAR, to be held June 22-26, 2026, in Obihiro, Japan. Scientists at all stages of their career are encouraged to apply, with research carried out in the last six years.
 
Evaluation criteria 
The Awards Committee will assess candidates based on:
  • Significance of research topics
  • Breadth and depth of research 
  • Originality of published work
  • Impact on the field of assisted animal reproduction

The Simmet Prize has recognized exceptional scientists since its inception in 2008:

  • 2012: Dr. R. John Aitken (Australia)
  • 2016: Prof. Katrin Hinrichs (USA)
  • 2022: Dr. Gabriel Bó (Argentina)
