Bovine TechDays: Science, practice, and global networking
On June 24 and 25, the Minitube headquarters in Tiefenbach, Germany, once again became the center of innovation and international exchange in bovine reproduction during the highly anticipated Minitube Bovine TechDays.
With 55 in-person participants from 19 countries and 76 online attendees from 42 nations, the event was a truly global affair. The diverse program seamlessly blended cutting-edge science with hands-on practice, offering a unique opportunity for learning, networking, and inspiration.
The first day featured a lineup of compelling lectures by global experts. Dr. Karl Kerns (Iowa State University) spoke about label-free fluorescence sperm analysis, and Dr. Stéphane Alkabès (Synetics) discussed the operational impacts of semen morphology. Attendees also gained valuable insights into future-oriented topics, such as advanced reproductive biotechnologies with Prof. Dr. Michael Hölker (Georg-Augustus University Göttingen), and innovative liquid media production at Minitube Germany, via a virtual lab tour by Dr. Kilian Simmet. Dr. Ced Wise (Wise Repro) presented on Australian ART practices, offering a global perspective.
As the sun set, participants enjoyed a relaxing evening of networking, drinks, and regional delicacies, all set to the spirited sounds of the "Schnurrpfeyfferei", a medieval music ensemble from the famous Landshut Wedding of 1475.
Day two brought science to life with interactive, hands-on workshops. Participants explored the automation of semen processing with the Prism10 Bull lab software, took a deep dive into in-vitro embryo production using EmbryoCloud media, and discovered the latest innovations in semen analysis, including the AndroScope app and new AndroVision® features. Additional sessions provided practical insights into quality control procedures, semen straw identification, and data matrix code reading for field applications.
The success of this year's TechDays is thanks to the passionate engagement of all the attendees. Thank you for making it unforgettable!
